Go to minutes 40:35 - 43:05 to hear me speak about my research focus for my thesis.

The culmination of my time at CUNY- SPS for the MA in Applied Theatre was a master's thesis.  For this thesis, I worked with two partners, Dianna Garten and Heather Lanza, in a non-secure detention center for girls, run by the Division of Youth and Family Justice. I have chosen a selection of my thesis below as it speaks to the value of theatre as a tool for girls-focused programming for reform. One of the challenges that I feel we face as applied theatre practitioners is the need to communicate the value of theatre to those who do not immediately understand how theatre may operate outside of traditional theatre spaces. I have chosen this section of my thesis because it is a clear example of an academic argument for the value of theatre. I have also included a video from the public sharing of my thesis research, held at CUNY-SPS in May of 2014. I have given instructions above for where to start to hear me speak about my particular research lens and discoveries.

Additionally, I have included a Policy Memo that I wrote for Dr. Carrie Nordland's Introduction to Public Policy class, held through the Wagner School of Public Policy. For this memo, I adapted my thesis research to the format of a policy recommendation, directed at the administration of the Division of Youth and Family Justice. This offers a different example of an attempt to communicate the value of applied theatre to various audiences. This can be found below the excerpt of my thesis.
